Spring Cleaning for the Soul

Spring cleaning… just those two words spark images of dust flying, bags and bags of rubbish, open windows, washing walls and baseboards, fresh linens, and sparkling windows. At least that is my imagery, and usually my to do list,  when I hear spring cleaning.

If you follow us on Instagram you already know that for the week  of April 15th – 21st we over here at Lunar Rising are going to be focusing on “Spring Cleaning” our souls. I’m sure some, or most, of you are wondering what in the world I am talking about. Basically, we are going to be looking at habits that we have both good and not so good, the changes we want to make to improve our lives, and ways to clear out the stagnant and negative energies that we tend to collect. We will be doing this through journaling, movement, crystals, and even a wellness challenge over the weekend.

Spring Cleaning the Soul Through Journaling

We are starting out the week with our weekly journal prompts. I will give you an explanation and how to incorporate each prompt into your journey!

20190415_215023Monday: finding the seeds of change in everyday life. Take a moment to really think back on your day. What are areas of your life where you are already noticing little hints of change? Are you resisting them or going with the flow? Do you want to plant this seed and really incorporate this change into your life? Write it down, all of it. When you are finished, re read your entry and chose the changes that you want to nurture. Those will be the ones that you will begin to work on this week.

Tuesday: weeding out the negative habits. On Monday we looked at the changes we want to make in our lives. Now it’s time to look at our habits surrounding those changes. What habits are preventing the changes you want to make from really taking off? Are you procrastinating? Do you allow others to distract you from your own well being?  Pick one or two of the important changes from Monday and look at your habits surrounding those. Write them down. Be really honest with yourself.

Wednesday: shining light on the positive habits. Tuesday we looked at our negative habits. Today, list what you are doing to make a positive impact on the change you want to make. Be proud, change is hard and you deserve recognition for that. Even if it’s only you patting yourself on the back!

Thursday: nurturing change. Change is not easy, nor is growth. Both require constant work and nurturing. Today, make a plan. It can be as detailed as you want, or only a few vague ideas. Find ways to help yourself on your journey of growth. Are classes necessary? Maybe finding a support group to help you on your journey. What about just research or reading a book on a topic related to your topic of growth (because honestly, what is change if not growth?)

Friday: pruning your habits. You’ve had a few days now to focus on your habits, both impactful and inhibiting. Maybe you’ve even noticed a few more popping up that you weren’t even aware of. Today, put your focus towards picking which habits you want to keep, and which you want to toss out with the rubbish! You can write them out as a “pros vs. cons” list if that helps. If you’d like to stick to the planting theme we’ve had going so far you could label them “plants vs. weeds”. Then follow through with it!

Saturday/Sunday- watch your growth. Over the weekend be mindful throughout your day. Enjoy the growth process and keep track of how it impacts your life.

Spring Cleaning for the Soul Crystal Segment

We’re discussing crystals and one of my favorites at that!

20190418_212724Rose Quartz!!

Rose Quartz in well known for its “Love Magnet” qualities. Not only is it used to draw love to you, but it also helps to clear away negative energies and emotions that block our ability to find compassion, kindness, and love for ourselves and others. These qualities make it PERFECT for this week and the work we are doing on ourselves.

We are focusing on clearing out the old, stagnant energy and this stone excels at that while making way for unconditional love and acceptance. Many times we get set in our ways and patterns of thinking. Rose quartz can help break up those negative patterns that prevent us from embracing ourselves and others.  There are many ways that you can use rose quartz. Here’s a quick list of some of our favorite ways to add rose quartz to your daily life:

  • Keeping rose quartz by your bed side can help facilitate relations with your romantic partner by opening the channels to communication.
    • It can also help to relieve fears and anxiety related to intimate relations.
  • Add a clean chunk of rose quartz to your water bottle to help infuse a little extra love for your insides by flushing toxic energies and emotions that are trapped within you!
  • Throw a piece of rose quartz into your rosewater for an extra boost of love juju!
  • Carry a piece of rose quartz with you in your pocket (or bra, my personal favorite place to keep crystals) when you are going to need a little extra compassion, forgiveness, and kindness.

When preparing to use rose quartz you can cleanse it with water, salt, incense, or smudge. Because of the fibers that give rose quartz it’s color, it’s best to keep it out of the sun for long periods of time if you wish to prevent it’s color from fading. If you are adding the stone to your water, we suggest using polished stones vs. the raw cuts of the stone. Make sure you wash it with soap and water before plopping it into your water bottle though.
